I have a MARATHON!!!

FINALLY!!
10 weeks into my marathon training I registered for a marathon!!! Now I have a goal I can visualize. A real course to think about. Years of race results to stalk. Weather predictions to analyze. However, last year when I made this announcement I broke my leg shortly after. So, with fingers crossed I am ecstatic to say I am training for the :

Why Eugene?
It fit my time frame. I could only do my marathon this weekend or the next. Eugene will ROCK! I love the course. I love the whole finish on Hayward field and of course the history associated with the University of Oregon, Prefontaine, Nike etc. I am stoked! And I'm sure I'll come home with many pictures of me humping every life size cardboard cut out of Pre I can find. LOL.

The only drawback is its on the exact opposite side of the country. I plan to get out there as early as possible to shake the jet lag.

Another good thing that kind of takes away the stress is the fact I have no chance in hell of even getting an age group. This race attracts some sick talent. The top 40 women were all 2:44-3:0X. I want to run a strong race and BQ.

I think I need some new compression to celebrate! haha

Later taters!

    1. Benny! No way?!! That's freaking awesome! You'll do well. The guys are fast but the chicks are insane too. 2:44's 10 people deep. My friend ran it last year and had great things to say. You'll have elite status. Hopefully some perks there. Sweet! We'll have to catch up later. I don't know of anyone else going yet.

    1. I am doing a half in march. I'm such a non racer lately. I'm 3 weeks into my tempo workouts. I have better control of exact paces now. I can feel a 6:20 vs a 6:30 in about 10 seconds. I hope to do a low 3 hour race. My BQ is super slow like 3:40 I think. It that happens I broke my leg. lol But hey, you never know. I respect the distance and will train hard and hope for the best!

  4. Since you are going to run 3:15-20 if you are lucky, you should not be arrogant and say that 3:40 is "super slow".

Realize that many people are working hard and to their capacity and running 3:40 or slower.

I ran a 3:13 once, in my first marathon, I was in 7th grade.

    1. That's not fair. You are taking that out of context. I was speaking to Coach Dion and said 3:40 would be slow, FOR ME. I am not training for a 3:40. If I ran a 3:40 then something happen to me. I'm not here to talk about what 3:40 means to you or anyone else. I'm blogging about myself.

Clearly, you missed the NEXT sentence that said I respect the distance, will train hard and hope for the best.

      Have a good weekend....
