Track Tuesday. Not a fail...

TRACK TUESDAY!!!

You guys know I hate track. I can't run fast to save my life. But I really don't give up too easily so I went back out for today's workout. 2x400, 800, 3x400. All with 2:15 jog 400's. I felt good. I wanted to feel bad. People always say it's not supposed to be comfortable. So I tried to get there.

I won't blow this up lol but that is sheer sweat. My eyes were stinging from too much overnight eye cream.

The splits were: 1:25, 1:25, 2:51, 1:22, 1:21, 1:20.

Happy Tuesday!!

Ahhhh, the running gods thought of me today!

Today I had a shit-ass tempo workout.

It was supposed to be: 1 mile warm up. 35 mins at 6:35 pace. 1 mile cool down for 7 total.

I did: 1 mile warm up 7:25 pace. then 3 tempo @ 6:28, 6:39, 6:31. Then I had a hissy fit and did a 7:02 pouty mile. I had intended on just jogging to the car at that point.  But then I said, I feel better...and did 6:40 and 6:44. Not committing to speed or a recovery pace.7 miles total.

I can run 6:50 all day and night but dropping 15 seconds freaks me out. I almost have to be mad to run at that pace.

I am VERY lucky to have a running partner that puts up with this herky- jerky-emotional -wtf are we doing now-pacing...and can tell me stories the entire time and even say, "I know you can't respond" ...LOL Thanks D!

But enter the Running Gods:
Laura, I will send help via the US Postal Service

Fast forward...to today's mail. Help has arrived!!

2 issues of Running Times and my USATF membership stuff

And, and...my Eugene Award!

So my sanity was saved until....track tuesday!

Party on peeps!

Milk duds for Breakfast, duh...

Hi guys!!

I'm sorry for slacking lately. Not much is going on aside from sweltering morning miles in 200% humidity leaving me crying on the side of the road. But hey, I'm not injured! I'll take it!

Technically, I'm 5k training. But there is usually one workout a week that I bomb due to the conditions. I am a cold weather person. This heat dehydrates me in 30 minutes. I'll keep plugging along with my 50-60 miles a week and if the speed doesn't follow I'll just call it base mileage. I like long slope-y strides with bounce. This faster turnover gives me a headache.

Having mastered the sub 7 pace (6:50's) for the marathon I really can't fathom going faster. My tempo pace is 6:25-6:30 and that feels balls out. We'll see. I may just be a distance person....in the cold...on the flat...lol.

I'm always trying to up my game so I thought I'd take a look at my diet and possibly tweak it with protein etc. So for 2 days I told Siri what I ate. Not counting calories for any other purpose than to just see what I eat. Verdict: I'm a pig! PS This is NOT a free for all to pick on my diet!!!

These are my beloved $6 a box pops. Get them!

So, after 2 days I was grossed out that I eat lots of junk and I see where I can make improvements. I'm eating more chicken. It's just such hard work. When I'm done running I want sugar and candy. At the risk of sounding bratty, as runners....WE CAN! Bite me! But will I ever bust a 6-pack?

Probably not off this diet.

So for now I'm going to try to add more protein and bust my ass around the track doing a little faster than marathon pace...lol..80-somethings and we'll see what happens.

I hope y'all are having good summer running. Just do it for the fall times! I'll try to update with more frequency and wit. Cheers to happy injury free running!!!
